We are partnering with Fire Neural Network, a Gainesville-based startup incubated through the UF Innovate Accelerate program that is working on two key technologies:

  1. A High-Risk Lightning (HRL™) detector allowing for real-time fire ignition tracking with an accuracy of 40 meters within 40 seconds, with data fed into a proprietary neural network to determine if the strike was a HRL strike or not
  2. High-Risk Lightning Mapping Services integrated into the fiResponse platfrom used by CalFire, FFS and many other state agencies for wildfire monitoring.

The development team has split into 3 major teams working on 3 different parts of this project:

  1. Finding suitable datasets
  2. Building Neural Networks
  3. Researching existing models that tackle similar problems
